ELA

Honors ELA

Our honors English/Language Arts (ELA) classes are designed to enable students to further their comprehension and writing skills.  Honors classes include increased rigor in all units of study.  Students participate in novel studies, drama activities, poetry writing, independent reading, and essay contests throughout the year.  All 8th grade students use an innovative, technology - based writing program, My Access, to help improve their writing skills.

Regular ELA

Our English/Language Arts (ELA) classes are designed to enable students to further their comprehension and writing skills.  Students are required to do independent reading, novel studies, poetry writing, and essay writings. Eighth grade students use and innovative, technology based writing program, My Access, to improve their writing skills.

Language!

The Language! Class is an intensive language arts program that consists of constant testing, re-teaching, and progress monitoring to help increase skill development in ALL critical areas of literacy.  It focuses on the skills necessary to better prepare students for the standardized testing and high school curriculum. This class is reserved for selected 7th and 8th grade students.

Read 180

READ 180 is an intensive reading intervention program that helps educators confront the issues of adolescent literacy and special needs reading on multiple fronts, using technology, print, and professional development.  The program directly addresses individual needs through differentiated instruction, adaptive and instructional software, high-interest literature, and direct instruction in reading, writing, and vocabulary skills.  This class is reserved for selected 6th grade students.
